This beautiful piece features 2 clips on a sterling silver and marcasite brooch setting. It is an Australian piece produced by Lega, Melbourne, makers of fine marcasite sterling silver jewellery from around 1948.

The brooch is marked to the back Lega and has the pattern number 310. It has a roll over locking type clasp. Each clip is set with a steel spring which is strong and keeps the pieces firmly in place.

The piece was designed to be worn as a single piece or as two clips to adorn a collar or to clip either side of a V neckline to change to a sweetheart neckline. They were known as sweater clips in the US. These were a popular item in the late 1940's and early 1950's.

The brooch is 58mm x 23mm
